How it works
1
Step 1: Apply and Get Matched
Fill out the intake form. AHS reviews your situation, walks you through the program, and matches you with available or upcoming homes. No minimum credit score. We look at the full picture.
2
Step 2: Move In and Start Building Equity
You move into a new AHS-built home as a Tenant Buyer. A portion of every monthly payment goes directly toward your ownership stake. You can see your equity grow in real time.
3
Step 3: Work Toward Mortgage Readiness
While you live in your home, AHS connects you with housing counseling resources and lender partners who help you build credit, manage debt, and prepare for mortgage qualification.
4
Step 4: Convert and Close
When you have built enough equity and credit history, you convert to a traditional mortgage and close on your home. The equity you built becomes your down payment.

Who Is This For
Bridge to Ownership is designed for families who have steady income and stable employment but cannot yet qualify for a traditional mortgage due to limited credit history, insufficient savings for a traditional down payment, or recent financial setbacks they are working to resolve.
If you are earning enough to sustain a monthly housing payment and you are ready to commit to a home and a community, this program may be right for you.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this the same as traditional rent-to-own?
No. Traditional rent-to-own arrangements are often loosely structured with unclear terms and high risk of forfeiture. Bridge to Ownership is a fully structured program with transparent terms, real-time equity tracking, and a clear conversion timeline. You know exactly where you stand from day one.
What credit score do I need?
There is no minimum credit score to apply. AHS evaluates your full financial picture: income stability, employment history, rental history, and overall readiness. Part of the program includes connecting you with resources to build your credit over time.
What happens if I need more time?
If you need more time to convert to a mortgage, AHS works with you to extend the timeline within the program terms. The goal is your success, not your failure. Specific terms are disclosed before you sign anything.
How is this different from just renting?
When you rent, your monthly payment covers someone else's mortgage and builds someone else's equity. In Bridge to Ownership, a portion of your monthly payment builds your ownership equity in the home you are living in. Every month you are closer to owning, not just paying for a place to stay.
